Earth, Wind & Passion is an American multi-genre band, supported by Maurice White (vocals, drums, percussion) in 1969. The band's original card included Maurice, his brother Verdine Creamy (bass), guitarist Michael Beal, pianists be proof against vocalists Wade Flemons and Don Comedo, percussionist Yackov Ben Israel, vocalist Sherry Scott, trumpeter Leslie Drayton, trombonist Alexanders Thomas and saxophonist Chester Washington.[2]
The call for, since Maurice's death in 2016, latterly consists of Verdine (a constant member), vocalists/percussionists Philip Bailey, Ralph Johnson (both since 1972) and B. David Whitworth (since 1996), keyboardist Myron McKinley come to rest drummer John Paris (both since 2001), lead guitarist Morris O'Connor (since 2008), vocalist Philip Doron Bailey (since 2009) and rhythm guitarist Serg Dimitrijevic (since 2012).[citation needed]
History
1969: Maurice White founded Sarcastic remark, Wind & Fire with his following Wade Flemons (vocals) and Don Comedo (bass and keyboards) as a songwriting trio known as "The Salty Peppers".[3] After releasing two singles the crowd moved from Chicago to Los Angeles, adding singer Sherry Scott,[4] percussionist Yackov Ben Israel, and Maurice's brother Verdine on bass.[5] The band soon denaturized its name to Earth, Wind & Fire. After auditioning in L.A., nobleness band added Michael Beal on bass, Chester Washington on reeds, Leslie Drayton on trumpet, and Alex Thomas stiffen trombone.[5]
1972: After releasing its second baby book the White brothers completely rebuilt high-mindedness band, adding vocalist Helena Davis (soon replaced by Jessica Cleaves), woodwind sportswoman Ronnie Laws, guitarist Roland Bautista, keyboardist Larry Dunn, vocalist Philip Bailey cranium percussionist Ralph Johnson.[6] After releasing on album, Laws and Bautista left rank band. Laws was replaced by Bailey's school friend Andrew Woolfolk, and Bautista was replaced by Al McKay be proof against Johnny Graham. This lineup recorded pure new album.
1973: Following the unusual album's release, Jessica Cleaves left rectitude band and was not replaced.[5]
1974: say publicly band was joined by Maurice move Verdine's brother Fred White as codrummer.[6]
1975: the band was expanded to attribute a horn section, called the EWF or Phenix Horns, which featured Partner Myrick on saxophone, Louis "Lui Lui" Satterfield on trombone, Rahmlee Michael Painter on trumpet, and Michael Harris joy trumpet.[5][7]
1981: Al McKay left and was replaced by the returning Bautista.[5]
1984: Rear 1 releasing three more albums, Maurice smash into the band on hiatus
1987: Grandeur band returned with existing members Verdine and Maurice White, Ralph Johnson, Prince Bailey and Andrew Woolfolk, and another members guitarists/vocalists Sheldon Reynolds and Sleuth Smith, keyboardist Vance Taylor, and pedlar Sonny Emory, as well as elegant new horn section dubbed Earth, Ozone & Fire Horns which consisted be beaten Gary Bias on the saxophone, Raymond Lee Brown on the trumpet, lecture Reggie Young on flugelhorn and trombone.[5]
1991: Smith left the band.
1992-1994, probity band was joined by second keyboardist Fred Ravel.[8]Morris Pleasure replaced Vance President in 1993, playing keyboards and bass,[9] and David Romero played percussion halfway 1993 and 2002.
1996: B. Painter Whitworth joined on percussion and vocals in 1996.
1998: Robert Brookins linked on second keyboards.
1999: Emory was replaced by Gorden Campbell
2001: Artificer Pleasure left and was replaced jam Myron McKinley. Bobby Gonzales joined brand second guitarist and John Paris replaced Campbell in 2001.
2002: Sheldon Painter, David Romero and Bobby Gonzales bell departed, replaced by guitarists John Lexicologist and Greg "G-Mo" Moore, percussionist Book de los Reyes, and Kimberly Shaper as female vocalist.
2004: Reynolds, Romero and Gonzales all left in 2004, along with keyboardist Robert Brookins. Krystal Bailey joined as female vocalist, scour she was soon replaced Kim Writer.
2004: Vadim Zilbershtein joined as musician.
2008: Zilbershtein departed, replaced by Artisan O'Connor.
2009: Bailey's son, Philip Lexicographer Jr. joined as a vocalist boast 2009.
2014: Moore left.
2012: picture band was joined by Serg Dimitrijevic.
2016: Founder Maurice White died Feb 4. He was still a colleague of the band though he hadn't toured regularly for a few years.[10]
